In May 2013 we became supporters of the Campaign for Better Hospital Food. We ran a survey asking UK Crohn’s patients for their views on the state of hospital food in the UK and our findings were startling, so we issued a press release that was picked up by the British media.
Following this media coverage we were contacted by the Hospital Caterer’s Association whose aim is to promote, develop and improve the standards of catering in hospitals and healthcare establishments in Great Britain. They asked us to work with them to issue guidance to healthcare establishments and since then we have been working closely with them to do this.
The following article was published in Hospital Caterer’s Magazine in October 2013, which is distributed to all hospital catering teams in the country. The article features a personal perspective from forCrohns committee member Sally who has been instrumental in driving this partnership forwards.
